How much is a UK ETA, and how long does it take?

As of November 3, 2026, GOV.UK says a UK ETA costs £20, online or in the UK ETA app, and you usually get a decision by email within a day, though it can take up to 3 working days. It lasts 2 years or until your passport expires, whichever is sooner, and every traveller needs one, babies included. Visitors from the USA, Canada, Australia and Europe usually need an ETA rather than a visa. The application asks for a photo of your face; SelfieToPassport makes it from your phone for $6.95.
