Form I-129F photo requirements

Form I-129F photo: size and rules

As of November 3, 2026, a Form I-129F petition needs one 2 x 2 inch color photo of the petitioner and one of the fiancé(e), taken within 30 days, on a white to off-white background (per uscis.gov, checked on Nov 3, 2026).

A K-1 petition carries exactly two pictures: one of the U.S. citizen petitioner, one of the foreign fiancé(e).

Fiancé(e) petition photos older than thirty days at filing do not meet the instructions.

Questions people ask

What photos go with a K-1 fiancé(e) petition (Form I-129F)?

Two prints in total, one per person: the U.S. citizen filing the petition and the fiancé(e) abroad. Each is a square two-inch color picture with the whole face straight on and a white or off-white wall behind it.

Measure the face from the top of the hair to the chin: it should span one inch up to one and three-eighths. The eyes sit a little above the middle of the print.

How old can the I-129F photos be?

No more than thirty days at the moment the petition is filed, for both people. Schedule the photos for the week you mail the package rather than months ahead.

USCIS lists the two pictures again on the I-129F form page, next to the other evidence for a fiancé(e) case.
