Passport fees in India
Fees are in Indian rupees and cover fresh passports and re-issues, including a new booklet when the visa pages run out.
The rules
- A fresh or re-issued 36-page Indian passport valid 10 years costs Rs.2,500. passportindia.gov.in
- The 60-page version of the 10-year passport costs Rs.3,500. passportindia.gov.in
- A minor’s 36-page passport, valid 5 years or until age 18, costs Rs.1,750. passportindia.gov.in
- Fresh applications from children aged 8 or under and from people over 60 get 10% off the basic passport fee. passportindia.gov.in

Tatkaal: the faster service
Tatkaal is charged on top of the normal fee.
The rules
- Tatkaal costs Rs.2,500 in addition to the application fee. passportindia.gov.in
- Once a Tatkaal application is granted, the passport is dispatched on the third working day, without waiting for the police verification report. passportindia.gov.in
- Passport Seva says a normal application takes longer than Tatkaal, which is dispatched within 1–3 days of the visit to the Passport Seva Kendra. passportindia.gov.in
